Orientation at Monash gets larger and more exciting every year. O-Week is the flagship event of the Monash University calendar, designed to facilitate the transition of commencing students into all aspects of higher education and welcome back continuing students in an entertaining and exciting environment.

1. Enrolments (late Jan and early Feb)

The MSA is present at nearly every stage of the enrolment process to help guide you through it and keep you entertained.

Keep an eye out for students in navy blue Host Scheme tshirts and feel free to ask then questions. The Host Scheme crew will also be on hand in the Enrolment Centre to give you your Enrolment Showbag chock full of information and goodies and they will also be providing food and drink just in case you get hungry.

2008 Monash Clayton Enrolment Dates:
1st Round enrolments: 21 - 24 January 2008
2nd Round enrolments: 6 + 7 February 2008
International Student enrolments: 11 - 13 February 2008

Please make sure you check the enrolment information sent to you by the university very carefully to make sure you bring all the right information


2. Kickstart your Monash experience with Student Fun Day - February 15
Want to kickstart your new life as a Monash University student?

Monash Sport will host a cross campus fun day on Friday February 15th. The day will be held at the picturesque Monash Sport recreational grounds and have Monash students from all cultures meeting, playing games and being entertained for several hours.

Activities will include amusement rides, mini sporting competitions, and the chance to meet new and senior students of Monash.


2. Host Scheme Day and Night - February 18

9am - Free Breakfast

Host Scheme Day begins at 9am with a free breakfast brought to you by those friendly navy blue shirted students again. Rock on up to the Robert Blackwood
Hall courtyard (click here for a map of the university) to get your free breaky!

10am - Official Campus Welcome
After breakfast head on into the Robert Blackwood Hall for the official Campus Welcome. A must attend for all new students as it contains vital information about the university, services and programs offered.

11:30am - Campus Tours
Following the Campus Welcome its time to get an official tour of the campus. These tours are run by students and will be faculty specific, so make sure you know which faculty you're in before you arrive.

The tour leaders will be senior students who study in your particular faculty and will be able to show you all the special locations you'll need to find during Week 1. If you don't want to get lost on your first day of classes GO ON A TOUR!

12:30pm - Free Lunch and Carnival Afternoon
Your tour will end at the Host Scheme Day festivities on the Lemon Scented Lawns, where entertainment, rides, and a free lunch will be provided for all students.

Relax, enjoy the entertainment, meet some new friends and chill the afternoon away on the Lemon Scented Lawns. You could also do the all important library tour during the afternoon.

For all students over the age of 18 - don't forget to purchase your ticket to Host Scheme Night.

7:30pm - Host Scheme Night at QBH (Melbourne)

Put on your party shoes and best outfit and join another 2000 students at the biggest university party night of the year in town. If your into dancing, chatting, listening to live music or just want to meet new Monash Clayton students then make sure you come along to Host Scheme Night.Tickets will be on sale during Host Scheme Day. Make sure you pre-purchase your ticket.

4. Orientation Carnival - Feb 20, 21 and 26
The Orientation Carnival is your chance to check out nearly all of our 100 clubs in person. The Clayton Orientation carnival runs over three massive days with over 150 clubs and stalls, free food, entertainment and much more.

The Monash lemon scented lawns are transformed into a sea of tents consisting of hundreds of clubs, market stalls, student services, bands, street performers and other great quality entertainment for all students to enjoy.

When: Wednesday 20 February, Thursday 21 February & Tuesday 26 February
Time: 11am - 4pm
Where: Lemon Scented Lawns - Monash Clayton (lawn area behind Building 10)
What: over 120 student run clubs, free food and drink and free entertainment

If you'd like to join any one of the 140 clubs on campus then don't miss the orientation carnival


5. University Orientation Information
Orientation is a busy time off year and can be confusing for new students. Make sure you find out what you must attend by either reading your copy of the University Orientation Guide 2008 (found in your enrolment showbag) or by going to the university orientation website at www.monash.edu.au/orientation.

A successful Orientation both academically and socially can help your transition into life as a Monash University student so make sure you get to everything you can.
